Did Anyone Else Ever Lie About Their Age?
Did you ever speak softly when the pharmacist asks your birthdate? I have. More than once.
Once, I even told a boyfriend I was a year younger so I wouldn’t be older than him. (This was before the internet — people didn’t check.)
And yes, I have whispered my birthdate in public. Today at CVS, I told the pharmacy tech my birthday was 8/15 — and guess what? So is hers. We celebrated right there in the prescription pickup line.
Until my influencer nephew, Jeremy Cohen, blasted my age on Instagram (thanks, Jeremy), I never told people how old I was. In the corporate world, there’s enough ageism already — why stir the pot?
Which brings me to my birthday tomorrow.
I loved being 71 because I graduated high school in 1971 and thought that was cool.
What’s cool about 72? Nothing.
But that’s okay.
Today, I met Jeremy’s grandma, who’s about to turn 90. She’s been doing ballet since she was 3, still drives everywhere, has a great boyfriend in his 90s, and has the best attitude.
Here we are Grandma, Mom and Me.
Aunt Elyssa says, “C’MON, Birthday! I’m ready for you — open arms, full heart, and no fear of the number.”
Woof! 🐶🎉
You are the picture of youthful vitality! Happy early birthday!
